We Are Here to Grow, Meditation Cards
12 double-sided prints, screenprint of hand-drawn images and lettering, watercolor
Open edition, first printing. 12 unique glazed stoneware bases
4.75" x 2.75" each
A native Philadelphian, Georgena lives in South Philadelphia and works out of her studio
in the Nicetown section of the city. She recieved her BFA from Kutztown University.
With an early focus on graphic design, watercolor and illustration, in recent years she has
focused mainly on the medium of clay to create figurative sculpture. Her work has been
included in the following exhibition spaces: Stickball, Phila, PA; Artspace 1241, Phila, PA;
Clay Studio, Phila, PA; Tiger Strikes Asteroid, Phila, PA; Butchie Alley, Phila, PA; RIA Gallery, Montclair, NJ. In 2025 she participated in her first ever CFEVA POST event in her
North Philadelphia studio. Many of her pieces are now in private collections.
My material focus is handbuilt, sculptural ceramics supported by screenprinting and
illustration. My work centers around themes of archetypes, the varied global cultural
ephemera surrounding ancient mythology (and the uniting themes found there), sigils
and other forms of iconography that represent our human experiences. I also make select
functional ceramic pieces to bring these themes into our everyday spaces: relatable and
supportive ideas sometimes literally drawn/written onto the works.
Project-specific rituals, writing, and visual meditation are as important to my work as my
sketchbook, clay, and tools. I seek understanding through observation of all that the
universe shows us and all that has yet to be revealed. I look to share these observations
with others through my art. Clay has proven to be a perfect medium for this work.
