Brent Galen Adkins, Riva and Bianca, 2025, Silver Halide Print
Brent Galen Adkins (they/them) is a Philadelphia-based artist whose photography explores transition, care, and the ways communities and landscapes remake themselves over time. Their work attends to thresholds, moments of undoing and emergence where structures meant to separate begin to loosen and give way. Through observation and return, they trace how the tender and harsh coexist, and how intimacy, improvisation, and growth take hold within and beyond the built environment.
Adkins approaches photography as a form of communion, rooted in trust, conversation, and shared experience, allowing long-term relationships with people and place to shape the images that emerge. They hold a BFA from Rowan University. Their work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at venues including Vox Populi, Practice Gallery, and Millepiani Rome.
