Alex Spragens was born and raised in a small town in Southeastern Kentucky, USA. He is a classically trained oil painter, and most of his work often focuses on people: portraits, figures, etc. Spragens received his Bachelor of Arts from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky in May of 2020. He is currently living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he is working as a teaching artist through a program called ArtistYear. His biggest hobbies are traveling, playing the electric guitar,and cooking.

I look forward to making a series of small works and one large oil painting over three days on the Schuylkill River Trail. I want to celebrate the river and the people that find solace near its waters. All those passing by are invited to participate in the process by looking, asking questions, sharing their own work, posing, and more. I am excited to build community and appreciation for the Schuylkill through art!
