Empowering Artists and Connecting Communities through POST.

Please continue reading below about The Center for Emerging Visual Artists (CFEVA) consistently works to make the Philadelphia Open Studio Tours (POST) an engaging, equitable creative experience for all.

Philadelphia is a vibrant tapestry of neighborhoods, each with its own unique cultural tapestry. Our audience spans individuals and families from all walks of life across the region, encompassing the rich diversity found in every corner.

Each year, POST artists and partners welcome over 40,000 visitors, representing a wide spectrum of interests beyond traditional art lovers. In recent years, the act of creating art has been shown to significantly enhance overall well-being, serving as a bridge that connects communities and fosters rehabilitation.

POST extends its reach across more than 26 neighborhoods, welcoming visitors who traverse the city on foot, by public transit, or by car. While it involves the opening of artist studios citywide, its primary aim is to cultivate a sense of community among both artists and citizens.

By providing an up-close look at artistic processes, POST facilitates meaningful conversations about social issues while breaking down barriers typically associated with traditional gallery settings. Studio visits offer a relaxed, personal atmosphere that is accessible and inviting, allowing visitors to engage with artists at various stages of their work and gain insight into the intricacies of their craft.

Moreover, POST serves as a platform for the Center for Emerging Visual Artists (CFEVA) to educate both artists and visitors on navigating the artistic experience and connecting with the broader community.

Beyond its cultural impact, POST also underscores the vital role of creative economies in maintaining financial stability. By attracting visitors to open studio events, POST stimulates sales and participation in local businesses, from restaurants to boutiques.

Year after year, POST continues to offer an unparalleled opportunity to experience the intimate and diverse world of artistic practice, celebrating the cultural and social prosperity of our region. It embodies the spirit of localism, tourism, and optimism, all within a single event.
