Visiting Curator Exhibition: Mónica Ramirez Montagut
Deadline: May 4, 2018
The Center for Emerging Visual Artists invites you to submit images of your artwork for review by our guest curator, Mónica Ramirez Montagut, Museum Director of the Newcomb Art Museum of Tulane. Of the applicants, 10 to 25 artists will be asked to present a digital portfolio of approximately 10 images. One to three of those artists will be selected for an exhibition in CFEVA’s Felicity R. “Bebe” Benoliel Gallery this summer/fall. This review process and resulting exhibition is a new way to showcase the abundance of talented artists in the region to a curator who is not yet familiar with our artist community. CFEVA is proud to create more exposure for the artists we serve and provide beneficial new leads for noteworthy curators.
Mónica Ramírez-Montagut received her B.A. in Architecture from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Architecture from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain. Most recently, Ramírez-Montagut was the Associate Director and Senior Curator for MACLA/Movimiento de Arte y Cultura Latino Americana and previous to that she was the Senior Curator at the San Jose Museum of Art, both in San Jose/Silicon Valley, California. She has also served as Curator at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, Connecticut; Assistant Curator of architecture and design at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; Curator of Collections and Public Programs at the Price Tower Arts Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Director of Community Outreach of the Queens Theatre in the Park in New York City; and as Project Coordinator for the Mexico Now Festival, New York City’s first—and only—annual festival of contemporary Mexican art and culture.
