Question: What’s new and old and an artist’s dream come true?
Answer: The Center For Emerging Visual Artists’ (CFEVA) expanded space at
1521 Locust Street.
That’s right, we are expanding to better serve our artists, and our community. CFEVA’s
additional space is 3,500 square-feet, and will be home to a larger gallery, a street
level entrance and a roomy resource center for all visual artists to use. This expansion
has been in the works for several years. We are so pleased to be able to launch
our grand opening at the end of the Spring 2009.
This space gives CFEVA the kind of accessibility that we have longed for to better
address the needs of the underserved in our region. CFEVA’s workshops and gallery
will be truly accessible to everyone. Additionally, the enhanced visibility will
help get the word out—and in turn—raise the profile of the astonishing work of our
artists and the community programs we sponsor throughout the region.
CFEVA’s original Barclay location will remain intact and serve as the home of our
permanent collection in the Felicity R. “Bebe” Benoliel Gallery. With over 25 years
of collected art, it’s time to start showing the history of CFEVA (previously CAN)
and the many success stories that have come through our programs.
